Tom
has been an official, a high school athletic director and a high school
and middle principal. He has been high school
and college football official for over 35 years. He began officiating
in the Northwest Indiana High School leagues and the Chicago Catholic
leagues shortly after he graduated from Ball State University. He
then was chosen to be a backjudge in the Indiana Hoosier Collegiate
Conference.
In
1978 Tom had the honor of being selected to officiate for the
Big Ten Conference, then supervised by Herm Rohrig. Tom is ready
to begin his 29th year in the Big Ten this season. He has officiated
in 14 post-season bowl games include a Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl,
two Orange Bowls, a Peach Bowl, three Holiday Bowl, and numerous other
bowls.
Tom has been a presenter at numerous
clinics through out the Midwest including Central Football Officials
Clinic, Eastern Illinois Football Officials Clinic, Honig’s Clinic,
Minnesota clinic, and the Indiana Football Clinic.
Tom has been a major presenter at the Big Ten Clinics for many
years, both to the officials and to the coaches.
Tom earned his bachelors degree from Ball State University. He
went on to receive a Master degree in Secondary Administration
from Purdue University, followed by an ED. S. degree from Purdue
University.
